QUINCY, MA- The American Dental Association recognizes nine dental specialties for dentists who wish to extend their training beyond the general dentistry path. Quincy, MA dentist, Dr. Alaa AlWazzan, pursued the additional three years of training beyond dental school to become a prosthodontist. Thanks to this dental work and training, Dr. AlWazzan is best equipped to provide dental restorations and cosmetic treatments that improve his patient's smiles.

Prosthodontists are specially trained to treat the most complicated cases of dental decay and damage through interventions such as crowns, bridges, dental implants, veneers and dentures. While Dr. AlWazzan sees a variety of cases where Quincy dentistry patients need dental interventions, he says having a dentist who is trained to handle a variety of dental situations is the right one to have on your side.

"I chose to pursue advance specialty training because I wanted to use my experience and education to truly offer patients the best results," Dr. AlWazzan says. "While some dentists may spend a week training to learn dental interventions such as veneers, I have spent years in training and practicing the correct techniques at my dental practice to perform these."

In addition to his specialty education in prosthodontics, Dr. AlWazzan also earned his surgical implant training certificate from Temple University's Misch International Implant Institute. In his practice, he offers both restorative and esthetic dental procedures.

Restorative dental procedures refer to those that replace or improve a tooth or missing tooth. For example, if you have a tooth that is highly decayed and requires a root canal, Dr. AlWazzan can restore the tooth by applying a crown over it.

Sometimes his Quincy dentist patients come to him because they are unhappy with the appearance of their teeth. In this case, Dr. AlWazzan uses his prosthodontic training to discuss solutions that may help the patient improve his or her smile. Examples include bonding and dental veneers that cover and conceal imperfections on the front teeth.

If a patient has experienced tooth loss, including more than one missing tooth, Dr. AlWazzan is trained in the implantation of dental implants and in creating the customized crowns that go on top of the dental implant to replace your tooth.

"Prosthodontics is a specialty that aims to restore balance and comfort to a patient's life," Dr. AlWazzan, a Quincy restorative dentist, explains. "Seeing a person smile without noticeable gaps or speak knowing a dental implant won't slip out of place can be inspiring. I'm proud to provide these moments and opportunities to my patients."
